Dr. Claire Hayes follows the ‘Children First: National Guidelines for the Protection and Welfare of Children’ (Department of Children and Youth Affairs, 2011) and ‘Guidelines on Confidentiality and Record Keeping in Practice’ (Psychological Society of Ireland’  2011).

The limits to confidentiality are as follows:

•  A child has been or is at risk of harm (e.g. abuse, neglect)
•  A client is at risk of hurting themselves or others
•  When there is a legal obligation to disclose information.
